PART B (5 x 13 = 65 marks)

11. Describe the RAID Levels, their characteristics, performance, and applications with illustrations.
Or Explain the architecture, topologies, and applications of Fibre Channel SAN.
12. Explain the working of Distance Vector routing algorithm using neat diagrams.
Or A bit stream 10011101 is transmitted using the standard CRC method. With the generator 1001. Show the actual bit string transmitted. Suppose the third bit from the left and the second bit from the right of the transmitted message are inverted during transmission, show that this error is detected.

PART C (1 x 15 = 15 marks)

16. Trans Connect is deploying a new fleet of automated guided vehicles (AGVs) in its warehouse. These AGVs communicate using an 802.11 standard, which relies on the Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA) protocol. The warehouse environment is highly prone to hidden terminal problems due to dense metallic shelving that blocks wireless signals. The company is observing a high rate of unnecessary backoffs and low overall throughput when the AGVs operate at maximum density. Analyze the role of RTS/CTS mechanism in addressing the primary cause of poor performance in this specific warehouse environment.
Or Broadcom is evaluating whether to upgrade the routing protocol for a new campus network containing 50 routers. The operator is concerned about the overhead introduced by routing algorithms, specifically the computational complexity required by each router to run the core algorithm. Identify the algorithm that each router must run to calculate its shortest path tree.
